Since the start of 2026 I use /e/OS on a CMF Phone 1. I like it and it works well but I didn't like their selection of default apps. Apparently I'm not the only one. There is an ARS Technica article saying the exact same thing. FIXME add link. So, I changed pretty much all of them, including the so called launcher. On Android the launcher is the main user interface, the home screen and additional screens showing apps and widgets etc.. At first I didn't know it was possible to change it, which was a bit a source of frustration. The default launcher on e/OS/ doesn't let you arrange the app icons freely, which is something I always liked to do. In general it seems to me like the developers of e/OS/ try to turn it a bit into an Apple like-ish experience. But that's not really something I'm looking for on an Android phone.

Launcher and phone functionality
I use the Fossify apps for basic phone functionality. The launcher is still in beta but works. It shows an empty screen in the list of apps but other than that I didn't have a problem with it.

Weather
- Breezy weather
I use the weather and clock widget on the home screen. The app for detailed weather reports. The UI is beautifully done. Great app, not much more to say.
