Software I use (Desktop/Laptop)
Distribution
- EndeavourOS/Arch Linux
Desktop Environment
- Niri / Dank Material Shell
- Gnome
I started using the Niri / Dank Material Shell combination in 2026 and I think it's pretty good! Previously I used Gnome and I'd still have it installed as a fallback though I don't really have a use case for it at the moment.
Browser
- Firefox (nightly)
- Helium (occasionally for testing)
I have used firefox for like forever. During 2010s I switched to chromium for a while because firefox had problems with multiple tabs, after they fixed that I switched back.
Terminal
- alacritty w/ byobu (tmux)
- gnome-terminal w/ byobu (tmux)
Development tools
Editor
- Helix (w/ leona/helix-gpt for copilot completions)
- vim (on servers)
I tried neovim in 2023 (?) and it was pretty much the worst user experience of my life. kickstart made things easier and I managed to get a working configuration after a couple of weeks. And after accomplishing that, I switched back to Helix. Helix is faster and I don't really have a use case for the plugins/scripting in neovim. At least nothing that would the worth the hassle.
Agentic coding
- opencode w/ openrouter
git tools
- lazygit
- tig (occasionally)
- aerc

IRC
- weechat
Password management
- keepassxc
Other TUIs (terminal ui's)
- lazydocker
- spotify-client
- ncdu

- scrcpy (phone cam mirroring)
